It’s time. I’m packed stacked and ready to roll. I’m packing up the laptop now and off and running.
The plan today is to try and make it to my friend Brian’s place near Charlotte, NC. It’s about a 10 hour ride and I should be able to do it.

I’m getting anxious as illustrated by the fact that I was up until 2 in the morning investigating routes and estimating mileage. I used Delorme Street Atlas to plan out what I know so far. I’m not big on planning this trip but I did want to get an idea of what I was taking on and the times involved. My plan is to be in Canada by next Thursday but I did want to get in a few sights along the way. The one that I hear a lot about is Deal’s gap in NC. It is an 11 mile road with 318 curves in it. So that is in the plan. Check out the map below and you can see what I mean. At the bottom is the mileage estimation based on the route.
