Did some timing and route planning yesterday while we rode out the storm. I wanted to go all the way to California but Daniel needs to be back in PA by the end of the month and we figured it would be too hard and we wouldn’t have enough time to really enjoy anything. This is the last full day of the Sturgis rally. We haven’t spent any time downtown at any of the vendors. We decided to do that today. I also needed an oil change for the remainder of  the trip and I lost another crew from my headlight so I need to find one of those. My poor bike is just rattling apart. Minor issues though. I’m sure it will be fine. We got the oil Changed by a The Oil Change Guy, Rick Sweet, from Joplin MO. He has a few businesses but comes and does oil changes on bikes at Sturgis. He did a great job. After the ZZ Top Concert last night we decided to do a little exploring. We had some friends recommend a ride through the hills and through an old town from the 1800′s called Deadwood (http://www.deadwood.org ). It was a great ride. We rode about 120 miles and stopped about half way and a little  shopping  area along the road. I took a few pics of things they had there that I will post. I also saw one of the most beautiful bike ever. The guy who owned it did all the work. It would be a great show bike but he said he never shows it he just rides. A man after my own heart. It looked like we may get some rain so we headed back to the campsite

Today was a good day. We repacked out bikes as is becoming g a daily ritual. We have bike covers but no way to really secure anything so every night we need to unpack and then carry everything to our rooms. Then the next day we need to repack to continue the journey. Things like this are things you don’t think about when you are considering doing something like this. We only needed to cover about 250 miles to get to Sturgis . 3 weeks ago that would have sounded like a lot but now it is almost around the corner compared to what we’ve already rode. Riding in the daylight, I was able to truly see and appreciate South Dakota. It’s one of those states that you know is there but don’t really hear much about, unlike New York or California. Hello everyone this is Daniel Krehling. I’ve joined up with Joe for this ride. My ride begins in Harrisburg, PA. I started out on Sunday morning about 7 am on a clear and sunny day.  I started out for my girlfriend Christines brothers house in Ferndale Michigan. The trip should have taken about 8  1/2 hours. We are still on the move. My friend Daniel Krehling from Pennsylvania joined me today. It was the day from hell. It started out fine with the nice breakfast and a great ride back toward the states. I got about 20 miles from the border in Canada and got off the highway to get some fuel and on a side road I ended up with a flat tire on the rear of my bike. What a hassle. I ended up knocking on a the door of the nearest house and the homeowner was really nice and helpful. He drug a compressor out of his barn and took it all the way to the road to help
