This was the big day that brought me to Canada. I’m late posting but I’m back dating the entry so that everything lines up in the Blog. You’ll understand why as you read the next few entries.
I went to Kempenfest with Dana and the kids in Barrie (http://www.kempenfest.com/). I got some pictures of Dana and her kids having an Oreo eating contest…. that was a hoot. I’m not much of an arts and crafts guy but there were a lot of nice and interesting things on display. It was a nice day but we ended up racing back to the car because we got a rainstorm that blew in out of nowhere. It reminded me of Florida because it only lasted a short time but was pretty severe. I had rode the bike so I could continue on to the party that was the
main event. We killed some time while waiting for the rain to end by going to a Tim Hortons which is like a cross between a Dunkin Donuts and an Einsteins bagels. (http://www.timhortons.com/en/index.html). Once the rain quit we made our way back to where I parked the bike and I was off and running to the party. I got there without further issue thanks to my trusty phone GPS .
The party was under way when I arrived. I parked my bike and set up my tent because nobody had any intention of leaving once the party began. The pictures will explain
. The party was a house party in a nice neighborhood. The neighbors seem very tolerant. I suppose since this is an annual event that they have become used to it. The food was great and the music was awesome. I got to hear Shane sing a lot of tunes that he typically doesnt sing. The classics that I like. He even dedicated a pretty obvious one to me…… you’ll have to guess the one he sang. (Seriously… guess and I’ll tell you if you are right). I thought that was a great gesture. I met many great people that I cna now call friends. I had a nit of minor celebrity status for the party because I rode so far to attend. It was worth it, though. I had a great time and would love to go again next year if it works out.
The party went on until the cops showed up around midnight and shut down the music. That was a bummer but people were still going
stong for quite some time after. I hadn’t drank much so I had no problem finding my tent. The next morning we all hung out, had some coffee and a killer steak and egg breakfast that Tracy whipped up and I was off on my bike to head back to Ferndale.
(I have a ton of pictures. I will post them as I can. It takes time to upload and I can’t seem to find decent High Speed Internet.)
